About Us |
|
In 2006, we joined the United States Equestrian Drill Association, USEDA, and started competing. Our first competition was a one day event in Marshall, Texas. We also competed in Jasper, Texas. In 2007 we started performing at the PRCA Rodeo in Nacogdoches, Texas. This is a three day rodeo, with performances each night. We then set our sites on competing in the USEDA National Championships held in Canton, Texas. This is a four day event where over 50 drill teams travel from all over to compete. With much dedication and practice by our riders and their horses, we were able to compete at this championship. Our Men’s Quad (4 man) Team won 3rd place. We also competed at Drill Congress in Marshall, Texas. We were able to win several divisions, as well as high point team.

In 2008 our group continued to grow. We formed two 8-man teams, a Men’s Quad, Women’s Quad, and a Color Guard Team. We continued to perform at the Nacogdoches Rodeo, and added the Panola County Rodeo in Carthage, Texas to the list. We created a Novice Team so new members could integrate easily into the group. It was designed so new riders and their horses can learn horsemanship skills and drill maneuvers at a slower pace. With experience and hard work, they become valuable members of our competition teams. With each competition we went to, we improved on our technique, teamwork, and crowd appeal. We have a great group of supporters that cheer us on. At USEDA National Championships we won the Sportsmanship Trophy, our Color Guard Team won National Champions in that division, our Men’s Quad Team took 2nd place, and our Rodeo Division Team took 3rd place. These were outstanding achievements for the Nacogdoches County Mounted Patrol. We couldn’t have done it without the dedication and hard work of each of our members. |

We look forward to an incredible 2009 season. We are already hard at work preparing and fine tuning our drill routines. We have increased the challenge by merging our two 8- man teams into one 12 man team. We have a brand new group of riders that have moved through our Novice team and have a good foundation. They are learning quickly, and have formed a new 8-man team. We are excited about this drill season, and we are aiming for the top! A big thanks to all our riders who work so hard, and to their families that support them. |
